So much so that some applications can be identified with the name of that celebrity. Recently, celebrities such as Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox, who stand out with their beauty, are the pioneers of a new style in terms of lips. All the curious information about lip lift surgery, which is also widely used as Angel Lip Lifting.
What is lip lift?
Lip lift is the process of shortening the distance between the upper lip and the nose, known as the piltrum, with a small incision and slightly lifting the lips if the distance between the upper lip and the nose is congenitally long or if this gap gradually opens over time. The ideal piltrum length is between 1 and 1.5 cm.
How is lip lift surgery performed?
Lip lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia or sedation. A sufficient incision is made just below the nose and the remaining area is sewn closed. This method is also called bullhorn lip lift. It is a method commonly used by plastic surgeons. This name was given because the shape of the incision resembles a bull horn.
What are the other types of lip lift surgery?
Apart from the commonly used bullhorn method, gullwing lip lift, cornered lip lift and Italian lip lift methods are also used in lip lift surgeries.
1. Bullhorn Lip Lift
With a horn-shaped incision made under the nose, the upper lip is lifted upwards from the middle. The teeth are slightly visible. A hidden incision scar remains under the nose. It is an effective method for people with a long piltrum area.
2. Gullwing Lip Lift
In this method, a thin incision is made just above the upper lip to make the pink lip look longer. Wrinkles on the lip called cigarette wrinkles are removed. It is preferred for people with thin upper lips.
3. Corner Lip Lift
In the cornered lip lift method, a smiling lip appearance is obtained with two small incisions taken from the corners of the lips. It is preferred for people with old and sad lip expression.
4. Italian Lip Lift
Two small incisions are made under both nostrils, leaving less scarring than the bull horn method. The effects are close to each other. In the Italian lip lift method, the upper two tops of the lip are raised to increase the curve of the upper lip arches. This method has little effect on the visibility of the teeth.

The lip lift procedure takes 45 minutes – 1 hour.
After the lip lift operation, the lips are lifted permanently for life, since it is not possible to return, possible risks should be thoroughly considered in the decision-making process.
Postoperative recovery takes an average of 1 week. Stitches are removed within 5 days.
Eating and drinking should be stopped 8 hours before the operation. As in every operation, alcohol and smoking should be stopped a few days before the operation. The use of blood thinners such as aspirin, ipuprofen, vitamin E etc. should be stopped a few weeks before the operation.
Rest should be taken for 24 hours after surgery. Heavy exercise should be avoided for a few weeks after surgery and smoking should be avoided for 3-4 weeks. Do not lie face down. The mouth should not be opened too much, teeth should be brushed carefully with a very small brush. A light moisturizer recommended by the doctor should be used for the lips.
As with all surgeries, there are possible complications after lip lift surgery. There may be pain in the lips and mouth. Swelling for 3 days is considered normal. Cold compresses and painkillers can be used. There may be effects such as allergic sensitivity to anesthesia, slow wound healing, nerve damage and bleeding.
As we age, the area between the upper lip and the base of the nose becomes longer and the lips become thinner. It is suitable for people in this situation at advanced ages.
It is suitable for those who are young but uncomfortable with the appearance given by lip fillers and those who are tired of the constant renewal of lip fillers.
It is suitable for those who want the upper lip to look longer instead of looking more voluminous.
If the distance between the upper lip and the nose (piltrum) is not too much (approximately 1.5 cm), then hyaluronic lip filler or fat injection should be considered instead of lip lift.
It is not suitable for those who do not have enough desire to quit smoking for recovery before and after surgery.

I have had a really komplex nose. My nose was crooked and also had a bump with a droppy tip. Additionally I seemed to have reacted allergic to something when i was in surgery. But I woke up from anesthesia and was perfectly fine. The surgical team did a great job with handling everything. My nose turned out very good (2,5 months post op) and i am more than happy. The staff (Tugce especially) is very nice and the doctor does a very good job. I would have never thought that I will be this happy with the result. Recommend:)
