How is Rhinoplasty Surgery Performed?

Things to Consider After Rhinoplasty
After rhinoplasty surgery, silicone tampons are placed in the nostrils and splints are placed on the back of the nose.
For the first 7 days following the rhinoplasty surgery, the patient should sleep using two pillows, keeping his/her head 45 degrees higher. It is not recommended for the patient to do sports during this period. The patient should strictly follow the doctor’s recommendations, do not interrupt the controls and drink the prescribed medications.
After rhinoplasty, recovery time varies depending on the extent of the procedure. Patients can usually stand up and walk within 4–6 hours and begin eating later the same day if there is no nausea.
Nasal splints or tampons placed inside the nose are typically removed after 1–2 days, while the external splint on the bridge of the nose is removed approximately one week after surgery during a follow-up examination. If there are no complications, most patients can return to work and resume daily activities within 7–10 days.
Swelling and bruising after surgery are normal and gradually decrease within the first 7–10 days. Around one month after the procedure, approximately 75–80% of the swelling resolves. Achieving the final nasal shape and complete healing can take up to one year. During this period, mild swelling, especially in the morning, is considered normal and tends to subside throughout the day.

The recovery time in patients undergoing rhinoplasty varies according to the size of the operation. Generally, the patient can stand up and walk around within 4-6 hours, and can start eating after 6 hours if there is no nausea and vomiting. I have had a really komplex nose. My nose was crooked and also had a bump with a droppy tip. Additionally I seemed to have reacted allergic to something when i was in surgery. But I woke up from anesthesia and was perfectly fine. The surgical team did a great job with handling everything. My nose turned out very good (2,5 months post op) and i am more than happy.
